What We Believe

United One Church is a biblically centered church family shaped by Jesus’ prayer in John 17:20-21: that those who believe in Him would be one, so the world may believe the Father sent Him. We seek unity in Christ across race, background, and personal differences, grounded in the truth of God’s Word. Together, we worship Jesus, build authentic relationships, make disciples, and serve our community as One Church, One Family, One Mission.

Our beliefs are summarized below in alignment with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. Scripture is the authority for our faith and practice.

1  Scripture

The Bible is inspired, truthful, and authoritative.
2 Timothy 3:16-17

2  God  One

God exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus is fully divine and human, crucified and risen.
Matthew 28:19; John 1:1-14; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

3  Humanity and Sin

We believe every person is created in God’s image and deserves dignity, respect, and Christian love. All of us have sinned and stand in need of salvation. Sin includes disobeying God in our actions, words, attitudes, and desires, as well as failing to do what He commands. It separates us from God and brings judgment. We do not excuse sin or treat any person as beyond God’s grace. Through Jesus Christ, forgiveness and new life are offered to everyone who repents and believes. Repentance means turning from sin toward God; following Jesus includes growing in obedience.
Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23; 6:23; James 4:17; Mark 7:20-23; Acts 3:19; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

4  Salvation

God saves through repentance and faith in Christ, transforming believers.
Ephesians 2:8-10; Romans 10:9-13

5  Grace

God graciously saves and preserves His people.
John 10:27-29

6  Church

Congregations follow Christ; qualified men serve as pastors, alongside deacons.
Acts 2:41-42; 1 Timothy 3:1-13

What We Believe

7  Ordinances

Believers receive immersion baptism; the Lord’s Supper remembers Christ’s death.
Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

8  Sunday

We gather for worship, celebrating Christ’s resurrection.
Acts 20:7

9  Kingdom

God reigns; His kingdom culminates when Christ returns.
Matthew 6:9-10

10  Eternity

Christ returns, raises the dead, and judges; heaven and hell are everlasting.
Matthew 25:46; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

11  Mission

We share the gospel and make disciples worldwide.
Matthew 28:18-20

12  Education

Learning submits to Christ and Scripture.
Colossians 2:3; 2 Timothy 2:15

13  Stewardship

We generously dedicate our resources to God.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8

14  Cooperation

Churches partner freely without compromising biblical truth.
Ephesians 4:1-6

15  Society

We oppose racism and immorality, protect life, and care for vulnerable people.
Micah 6:8; James 1:27

16  Peace

We pursue righteous peace.
Romans 12:18

17  Liberty

We affirm religious freedom and church-state separation.
Matthew 22:21; Acts 4:19-20

18  Marriage and Family

We believe God established marriage as the exclusive, lifelong covenant union of one man and one woman. Sexual intimacy is God’s gift to be expressed only within that marriage covenant. We believe sexual activity outside this covenant, including premarital sex, adultery, and same-sex sexual activity, is sin; pornography is also sinful. Husbands and wives have equal worth before God. Husbands are called to loving, sacrificial leadership, and wives to gracious submission to their husbands’ servant leadership. Children are a blessing, and parents are called to nurture them in biblical truth. We welcome people with compassion, uphold Scripture’s teaching, and point everyone to repentance, forgiveness, and restoration in Christ.
Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; Hebrews 13:4; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11,18-20; Matthew 5:27-28; Ephesians 5:22-33; 6:1-4
